The Power of Repetition!

Repetition is Key to Mastery.

In pole fitness, just like any sport or skill, repetition is key to creating muscle memory. When you practice a move over and over, your brain and body work together until the action feels fluid and natural. This is the beauty of muscle memory; your muscles start to react instinctively, without thinking!

Quality Over Quantity: Why Good Form Matters!

There’s one essential catch: It’s not about how many times you practice a move, but how well you do it. Research shows it takes around 300-500 repetitions to build a movement pattern. But if you’re practising with poor technique, it could take over 3,000 reps to correct those bad habits! 😱 (Schmidt, 1991)

That’s why it’s crucial to focus on good form from the start. The Form Principle advises, “Train only with correct form. Stop exercise 1 or 2 repetitions before form breaks to avoid reinforcing faulty motor patterns and to prevent injury.”

By paying attention to proper alignment, grip, and movement from the very first session, you’ll build a solid foundation that your body will remember for a long time. On the other hand, unlearning poor habits is a difficult and time-consuming process!

The 7 Primal Movement Patterns.

A big part of mastering pole fitness is understanding the 7 Primal Movement Patterns (McGill, 2006; Chek, 1999):

⭐ Squatting
⭐ Lunging
⭐ Bending
⭐ Pushing
⭐ Pulling
⭐ Twisting
⭐ Locomotion

These patterns are the foundation of almost every move we make in pole fitness and daily life. By mastering them, you’ll not only improve your pole performance but also strengthen your overall body control and coordination.
